2021 Set Sales Records for Northwestern Wisconsin Real Estate

Northwestern Wisconsin real estate

Northwestern Wisconsin real estate had a banner year in 2021. Barron County closed 1,028 home sales last year, posting its highest annual sales volume on record. Barron County homes reached a record median sales price of $197,700 for the year. (“Median” means half the homes sold for more than this price, and half of them sold for less.)

Polk County reached a record-high median home price of $235,000 in 2021. Rusk County saw record home prices as well, with a median of $174,000.00. Washburn County followed suit, with a record median home price of $223,000. As a whole, the State of Wisconsin saw a record high median home price of $240,000 for 2021.

The 2021 figures are still being finalized by the Wisconsin Realtors Association®, but it’s fair to say that demand for Northwestern Wisconsin real estate is the strongest we’ve ever seen it!

Buyers will likely face ongoing challenges in the first half of 2022, with low home inventory and quick-moving sales. Home prices will keep pushing higher as long as demand outpaces supply, but rising interest rates could slow things down a little.
