Northwestern Wisconsin Home Sales Stay Strong

Northwestern Wisconsin home sales brought in top dollar during the summer months. In fact, the Wisconsin Realtors ® Association reports that Barron County home sale prices have been higher on a year-over-year basis during every month of 2022. Rusk County home prices have been higher on a year-over-year basis for every month except February and May.

Here’s how the summer home prices stacked up:

Barron County:

  • June median sales price: $265,000
  • July median sales price: $257,700
  • August median sales price: $240,000

Rusk County:

  • June median sales price: $184,000
  • July median sales price: $210,000
  • August median sales price: $230,000

According to preliminary data for September 2022, Barron County home inventory was down 8.1% from August, and Rusk County home inventory was down 10.4%. With fewer homes available on the market, price gains are likely to continue; about half of all home sales are going for list price or above. However, we are seeing some price reductions and price negotiations as well. Much depends on the home itself, the price range and the location.
