This past summer was the hottest on record for Barron County home sales! According to the Wisconsin Realtors® Association, the median Barron County home sale price reached $210,000 in July 2020. This is the highest median sales price on record for any month, any year. (A “median” price means half the homes sold for more than this amount, and half sold for less.)
August 2020 had a median home sales price of $196,000, which is the highest median price for any August on record in Barron County. The figures for September 2020 are not yet available; real estate statistics tend to look back 2 months. But it’s a fair bet September’s median prices will be on a similar track.
Barron County home buyers have snapped up properties at a good clip. Homes have spent an average of 64 days on market before going under contract. Cheap mortgage interest rates – which set another record low in September – have kept buyers motivated. The pandemic has also renewed appreciation for home ownership and the elbow room that comes with it.
Barron County land is seeing demand as well. Outdoor recreation is “in!” Rural land with water rights, ATV or snowmobile trail access, or hunting potential is getting attention. Buildable lots in key locations are seeing prices on the rise. Raw land takes longer to sell than a turn-key home, but property owners across the board are in pretty good shape.
