Barron County Real Estate Had Fewer Listings, Faster Sales at Start of 2021

Northwestern Wisconsin Real Estate John Flor

Barron County real estate sales had a strong start in 2021, according to the latest data from the Wisconsin Association of REALTORS®. During January, Barron County homes went under contract after spending an average of 121 days on market. This is 30.5% faster than the days-on-market we saw in January 2020.

The inventory of Barron County homes for sale is a big part of the story. In January 2021, Barron County had 48.8% fewer homes on market than it did in January 2020. Inventory is normally lower in the winter months, but this is a sharper downturn than normal.

Peak sales typically happen in the summer when visitors to Northwestern Wisconsin shop for homes while they’re vacationing here. With the shrinking market timelines and the scant home inventory, buyer competition is going to heat up as boats start hitting the water.

It’s possible that as the pandemic recedes, homeowners may become more willing to put their properties on the market. As we get closer to normality, pent-up sellers could resume plans to relocate, retire, downsize or trade up. The increase we’ve seen in home values could give pent-up sellers additional motivation. Buyers, cross your fingers – and sellers, be sure to call us!
