The official start of spring is just a few days away and there is no better place to enjoy it than Chetek! Naturally, the City of Lakes is a hub of recreation, beautiful scenery and events year-round, but the upcoming season will bring warmer temperatures for you to get out and explore!
If you are a resident of Chetek, plan to visit or are considering a move this year, you will want to add the following seven activities to your to-do list:
Go golfing
Northwestern Wisconsin is home to top notch golf courses and you’ll find several to choose from within Chetek. Courses include Sioux Creek and Sunset View, as well as nearby Pine Crest and Rolling Oaks.
Hit the shops
Chetek boasts a quaint, small town atmosphere with plenty of unique shops to browse. Here you will find everything from sportswear to antiques to crafts and books. Take a day to enjoy the spring weather outdoors and pop into shops like Time & Again Antique Mall, Del Sportswear, Whimsical Wares or Carpe Diem.
Go biking or hiking
With nearly 32 miles of bike routes available along the west and east sides of Prairie Lake, as well as along the west side of Pokegama Lake and through Chetek itself, you could set out on a new stretch of local biking or hiking trails every weekend. What better way to spend a spring day?
Go fishing
Chetek is called the City of Lakes, so as you can tell, there are ample opportunities for fishing in our community! The Chetek chain of lakes includes Chetek, Moose Ear, Ojaski, Pokegama, Prairie and Ten Mile— all well-known for quality fish like largemouth bass, walleye, bluegill, crappie, rock bass, bullhead, northern pike and perch, to name a few!
Enjoy old-fashioned car-side service
The Northlakes Drive-In on 2nd Street in Chetek offers great food and friendly carhop service. Take a cruise around the City of Lakes and head to the drive-in for an outdoor lunch (or at least one with the windows down!).
Plan a resort weekend
We’ve shared a few of the lodging options that make Chetek a go-to for camping, as well as lakeside resorts. While the weather may not be ideal for camping just yet, there are dozens of resorts where you can spend a relaxing weekend or staycation.
See a drive-in movie
Just north of town is the Stardust Drive-In Theater where the sound is broadcast through your car’s stereo, just like the old days! This is one of only six drive-ins still operating in Wisconsin and is anticipating re-opening for the 2016 season this March!
As your local real estate experts in Chetek, Six Lakes Realty can answer any questions you have about the local real estate market, community, buying or selling a home in Wisconsin! We look forward to hearing from you and happy spring!
