As we head into mid-November, it’s time to start preparing for the holiday season ahead. After all, the end of the year is just over a month way! You may have already begun to plan your holiday menus, which guests you’ll be welcoming into your home and where they will stay, making a list and checking it twice.
There will be an endless list of holiday to-do’s over the next few weeks and as your Chetek WI real estate experts, Six Lakes Realty has provided the following five tips to ensure you’re as ready as you’ll ever be!
Inspect your oven
The holiday season tends to put many kitchen appliances to use— especially your oven! Take the time now to make sure no dust or debris is covering the cords behind your range, clean the inside racks and door with a degreasing solution, change the light bulb if necessary and remove any food that may be stuck to burners.
Organize a work space
Clear off your kitchen counters to make room for cooking and baking this holiday season. You will want a spacious work area! Make sure all mail, catalogs and other papers are organized and stored elsewhere and all small appliances out in the open are placed in cabinets if possible.
Clean out the refrigerator
Before your refrigerator becomes home to your holiday menu items, you will want to toss out any old food that may currently live there. Check expiration dates, think about the likelihood that you will use certain items before the holidays and clean any spilled liquids or debris from shelves.
Organize an entryway
As you welcome guests into your home in the Chetek area, you should have a designated area to keep shoes, hats, coats, scarves and luggage. Create a spot by the front door with a coat rack—or closet with ample space—and mat for shoes that may be wet with snow.
Stock your guest rooms
Will you have a surge of family and friends staying with you in your Chetek WI home this holiday season? Be sure their guest rooms are properly outfitted. You should have extra toothbrushes, toiletries and towels on hand. Sheets, blankets and pillow cases should be cleaned, with spare sets available. You can also set out fresh flower arrangements to help them feel more welcome.
