Home sales activity has been steady throughout Wisconsin, according to the latest data from the Wisconsin REALTORS@ Association. Here’s the latest real estate news, along with our own insights!
As of March 2026, the median home price for Wisconsin as a whole was $330,000, a price gain of 6.5% compared to March 2025. Sales transactions were up nearly 7% from a year ago.
When we focus on the 18-county North region, the median home sale price was $275,000 for March, a gain of 8.52% from last year. Transactions were down about 4.25% compared to a year ago.
In Barron and Rusk counties of Northwestern Wisconsin, there’s some variety. Barron County’s median home price was $242,300 during March 2026, which is about 6% lower than March 2025. The number of sales transactions declined compared to last year. Homes spent an average of 74 days on market before going under contract.
Rusk County’s median home price was $170,000 during March 2026, a gain of 4% compared to March 2025. Transaction activity was lower compared to a year ago. Homes spent about 84 days on the market before going under contract.
Despite the mixed data, which is normal for our rural markets, there is healthy demand for Northwestern Wisconsin real estate! Home inventory has improved in recent months, and mortgage rates are lower than they were last spring. Homes will go under contract more quickly during the summer rush. If you’re entering the market for a purchase or sale, you’ll need to be prepared!
