Home sales activity is holding steady throughout Wisconsin, according to the latest data from the Wisconsin REALTORS© Association. Here’s the latest real estate news for Northwestern Wisconsin, along with our own insights!
The median sales price of a Wisconsin home increased 6.8% on a year-over-year basis, reaching $352,500 as of May 2026. Transaction activity is down slightly compared to May 2025, slipping -2.84%.
In the 18-county North region, the median home sales price reached $311,000 in May, posting a gain of 7.6% from the prior year. Transaction activity in the North improved by 14.2% on a year-over-year basis.
Looking at Barron County, the median sales price of $300,000 established in May 2026 is in line with last year’s median of $299,900. However, Barron County saw fewer transactions compared to a year ago, with sales activity down by about 25%.
Rusk County’s median home sales price was $250,000 in May, which is a drop of about 12.5% compared to last year. About 21 homes changed hands during the month, which marks Rusk County’s busiest May since 2018.
The big news in Barron and Rusk County is the number of homes for sale! In Barron County, home inventory increased by nearly 32% compared to a year ago. Rusk County home inventory grew by 10.42%. This is taking the pressure off price growth.
At the same time, homes are only spending about 40 days on market. Home demand remains healthy, and the pace of sales suggests a busy summer ahead!
