Northwestern Wisconsin knows how to enjoy winter! February brings exciting outdoor events as well as indoor activities for the whole family. Here’s a list of upcoming events in the Barron County area!
Sundays through early March (ice permitting): Chetek Ice Racing, starting at noon. Held on Lake Chetek in front of Red’s Grill and Bar, 121 Lakeview Drive, Chetek. Drivers must register in advance. Classes for Front Wheel Drive, Rear Wheel Drive, Studs, Powder Puff, Open Class and Young Guns. Spectators are welcome!
Feb 1: Hydroflites Ice Fishing Contest, Chetek Chain of Lakes, 8am-2pm. Registration at Pokegama Lakeside Cantina, 840 Banks Lane, Chetek. Cash prizes, raffles and door prizes! Kids fishing contest for youths aged 14 years or younger. Food and refreshments available.
Feb 8-9: Barron County Model Railroad Club Show, Cedar Mall, 2900 S. Main St., Rice Lake. Saturday show 10am-5pm, Sunday from 11am-4pm. See operating model railroad exhibits and meet local club members. Model train buyers and sellers on site.
Feb 21-23: Home & Garden Show, Chippewa Valley Expo Center, 5150 Old Mill Plaza, Eau Claire. 3 big days! Home improvement seminars, design ideas, daily scavenger hunt with cash prize, on-site beer & wine tavern, and more! Kids’ activities on Sunday. See website for details and ticket info.
Feb 21-22: Winter Fest, Chetek. Vintage snowmobile show and ride on Friday starting at 10am. Fire-Up party follows at Red’s from 6pm-9pm, featuring music and raffles. Saturday snowmobile races begin at 10am, with the famous Bikini Run Fundraiser at 1pm. Games for kids and concessions, too! See the website for details and registration info!
