Now that the weather is warming up and we can finally say goodbye to snow (fingers crossed!), the community of Chetek Wisconsin is gearing up for a season of fun events and openings.
If you are local to the City of Lakes, you know that we are home to two old-fashioned drive-ins that offer a blast from the past— Northlakes Drive-In and the Stardust Drive-In Theater. If you’re not a resident of Chetek or are considering a move to the area, these are just two places to put on your Must-Visit list this spring!
Northlakes Drive-In
A nod to the root beer stands we grew up with, Northlakes Drive-In just opened for another season in late March. It’s a ‘50s-style restaurant with car hops, homemade root beer and a friendly atmosphere the whole family will love. Chetek residents anticipate their reopening for months and this spring, it’s one place you’ll want to experience whether you’re just visiting or moving in!
Stardust Drive-In
Located just north of town, Stardust Twin Drive-In Theater (one of only six total in Wisconsin!) is the place to catch a double feature in a unique atmosphere. The sound is broadcast via your car’s stereo and there is a concession stand available to grab your movie snacks.
As you can imagine, the theater closes during the cold winter months in Chetek, but early April marked the long-awaited re-opening! With warm spring weather ahead of us, you’ll want to be sure one of your nights is spent at this old-fashioned drive-in.
